Abstract

Background: Organizational culture is a set of specific behaviors, rules or norms. It is seen as one of the concepts influencing knowledge sharing. Knowledge sharing is important because it often leads to the generation of new ideas, which is considered as having the potential for the creation of new knowledge that improved organizational innovativeness. Aim of study: the study aimed to identify the relationship between organizational culture and knowledge sharing among staff nurses. Subjects and methods: a descriptive correlational research design was used. The study was conducted in Mabart EL Mahalla Hospital; it is affiliated to General Authority for Health Insurance. Simple random sample that included 152 out of 250 staff nurses. Two data collection tools were used to carry out this study namely, organizational culture inventory (OCI) and knowledge sharing questionnaire. Results: the highest percentage of staff nurses had high level regarding pattern defensive culture, while more than half of them had low level regarding pattern of aggressive defensive cultural. Minority of the study participants 5.3% had high level of total knowledge sharing, while more than three quarters of study participants 87.5% had moderate level of total knowledge sharing, and only 7.2% of them had low level of total knowledge sharing. Conclusion: There was a highly statistical significant weak positive correlation between total organizational culture and total knowledge sharing. Recommendation: Hospital administrators cloud make periodic assessment for organizational culture among staff nurses. Organization must improve inflow of knowledge through develop policies on career advancement and career positioning.
