Abstract

The voltage and the reactive power balance in the power system are inextricably linked. A reactive power balance is always there, but at an undesirable voltage if the balance is not adequate. As a result, the crucial function of reactive power compensation emerges as one of the most essential requirements of a secure operating of the power system.
Renewable energy sources currently play a major role in supporting electrical networks, increasing their economic efficiency, and satisfying environmental criteria for pollution and carbon emissions reduction. from all the renewable technologies, wind power stands out since it has had a significant increase of integration in the networks. The challenge of wind power to the nature and operation of the power system is related to the fluctuating nature of the wind. As a result, a high percentage of wind penetration may affect the stability of the power grid.
