Abstract The present work aims to identify and describe the figure of women in the era of Franco’s dictatorship through two literary works: Nada by Carmen Laforet and La Colmena by Camilo José Cela. Based on the similarities of the literary features found in the two novels, it will be possible to describe the social and cultural reality of Spanish women; also, it will be possible to identify the different elements that each sex sees in terms of the figure of women under the influence of the Franco dictatorial system. Through a literary analysis of these two works and the evaluation of this period with its consequences, which are reflected in the different areas of Spanish life, we try to detect the figure of women. The work will be developed by means of a meticulous investigation, using more than one method: the descriptive method and the critical -analytical one. In addition, the theory of Gynocriticism by Elaine Showalter will be followed, where she creates new models of analysis through a new theory, based on the experience of women, and the female images represented by writer’s females, and rejecting the female representation made from the point of view of writer’s males. Key words: Nada, La Colmena, figure of the woman, postwar narrative, Ginocrítica. |
