Introduction:
The educational process is the supreme message that provides societies with ideals, causing the development and sustainability of civilization. Family is the basis of the education and survival of the human race. It is the educational medium between the individual and society where a person grows, personal behaviors evolve, and personality develops. It is the first school of providing people with values and morals to prevent behavioral and moral delinquencies from achieving comprehensive care for children and permanent and sustainable unity between couples.
Statement of the Problem
Currently, several contemporary changes have affected all life fields, in general, and family, its stability, and its functions. Accordingly, individual interest has dominated public interest, and family has lost its role in reform and progress. The family has changed into consumptive depending on the products of institutions in all life aspects. These changes have resulted in several problems and patterns of intensions in the family.
Furthermore, parents’ roles in raising children appropriately have changed, and lousy family relationships have caused many problems, such as divorce, breakdown, and collapse of family pillars. Thus, analyzing the reality and internal and external obstacles of Egyptian families that have negatively affected the family system and facilitated penetration, instability, breakdown of the relationship, and collapse. These aspects have affected the entire community because the family is the primary educational institution in society.
The present study highlights the societal changes that negatively affect the educational roles of the family. It defines a set of educational requirements for establishing a real family educational role in Egyptian society, especially in the Sohag community. The researcher defines the problem by asking the following questions:
What is familial integration? What are its significance, domains, and fields? What contemporary societal changes do affect the family? What are the educational requirements for confrontation? What is the reality of familial integration in the Sohag community? What is the proposal for activating familial integration to confront some contemporary societal changes?
Objectives
The study aims to identify the concept and fields of familial integration, define the educational roles of activating familial integration, determine the contemporary societal changes facing the family, highlight the reality of familial integration in Sohag governorate, and make a proposal for activating familial integration to confront some contemporary societal changes.
Significance
The study can help the family, as a comprehensive educational institution, raise children appropriately and comprehensively to highlight some societal changes that weaken the family’s performance in raising children. It helps highlight some societal changes that weaken the family’s role in raising children. Moreover, it makes a proposal for activating familial integration to confront some contemporary societal changes. The results can help parents overcome the obstacles to familial integration and develop ways of prevention. They can also benefit family charities or organizations in Sohag to develop their educational systems based on solid educational and scientific bases and principles.
Method
The researcher adopts the analytical-descriptive approach.
Definition of Terms
Familial integration: The activation and integration of the family roles and educational functions, the ability of every family member to fulfill a specific role based on the desired objectives of the educational process, and building interconnected strong relationships that ultimately lead to the achievement of familial integration.
Limits
The study is limited to a sample of Sohag University students.
Tools
The study adopts the questionnaire as a major tool to identify the reality and the most important requirements of activating the educational roles of the family.
Sample
The tool of the study is applied to a sample of (800) students at Sohag University.
Results
The theoretical study showed some obstacles to familial integration, such as the collapse of moral values in the society, high rate of divorce, lack of family and societal communication, lack of the dialog culture and differences between couples, ignoring the limits of politeness and calm discussion, weak religious and moral piety, low income, high rates of poverty and unemployment, high demands of life, and wrong choice of a life partner.
The field study illustrated the third objective of the study, namely highlighting the reality of familial integration in Sohag governorate. The results showed the low familial integration and stability in Egyptian society due to many obstacles. Some obstacles relate to societal changes, others relate to the involved educational institutions.
Proposal
The proposal comprises the philosophy, objectives, significance, foundations, domains, participants, obstacles of implementation, and ways of overcoming the obstacles.
