Abstract Sinai still occupies a big part of interest for many scholars because of its treasures that have no end. This thesis is concentrated on the Middle and Southern parts of the Sinai Peninsula. The study is an attempt of creating a survey for the monuments in this area following the methodology of the timeline of the Sinai history, starting from the Pre-historic Period till the Islamic Era. The first chapter of this thesis discusses the origin of Sinai’s name, its location and its components through displaying the different types of tourism in Sinai. The second chapter discusses the archaeological sites that date back to the Pre-historic period. The third chapter discusses the location and description of the monumental sites that date back to the Pharaonic Period. The fourth chapter discusses the origin of the Nabataeans and their preserved monuments over the studied area. The fifth chapter discusses the Byzantine and christian sites with a full description of these sites. The sixth chapter discusses the Islamic monuments in the Middle and South Sinai with also a full description of the sites. Finally, the study presents some suggestions aim to develop these Cultural heritage sites and exploit them for creating a new tourist product in this region gives an attention to the cultural and historic tourism or other types of the tourism that concern to such sites. It may be not a comprehensive survey for all the sites, but it is an attempt of the researcher to gather all the possible through one Structure. |
