Abstract The present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of a connectivism theory-based program using blogs to develop secondary stage students’ writing performance and attitudes. Thirty students from Elwan Secondary School, Assiut Educational directorate were chosen as the study group. The study adopted one- group quasi-experimental design. The researcher prepared and used the following instruments: a writing performance pre-posttest and an attitude towards writing scale. The participants were trained in the connectivism theory -based program using blogs. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences at 0.05 level between the mean scores of the research group in the pre-post administrations of the writing performance test and the students’ attitudes towards writing scale favouring post testing. Results revealed that the connectivism theory -based program using blogs was effective in developing students’ writing performance their attitudes towards writing. Some related recommendations and suggestions for further research were included. Key words: Connectivism theory, Writing performance through blogs, students’ attitudes. |
