Abstract The perimenopause, a time of changing ovarian function, referred to the time of the onset of menopausal symptoms, Perimenopause is also defined as the period preceding the menopause by several (4-8) years and first year after it. In Egypt, the mean age of the menopause is 46.70±5.44 years, Perimenopausal period have great impact on women’s life. They may affect physical, emotional, and social aspects of their life. Work ability is defined as the ability of a worker in the present or near future to perform the functional demands of their work with respect to their current state of health and their physical and mental capacity. Work ability is a measure of functional aging. It aims at identifying at an early stage health risks of the employee that may interfere with work. Work ability and work participation are considered important issues as they play an important role in quality of life because they give a sense of usefulness and satisfaction. This study was a cross-sectional analytic study, aiming at improving health and productivity of perimenopausal female teachers working at secondary schools in Suez city through assessment of the impact of perimenpausal period on work ability and determination of the parameters predictive to work ability among perimenopausal female teachers. The study was carried out on apparently healthy female teachers in perimenopausal period, aged 40 years and above working at secondary schools in Suez City, excluding those with induced menopause, chronic illnesses, pregnant and lactating females, and women receiving hormone replacement |
