Abstract EOL care is characterized by providing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual support for terminally ill patients and their families, which include palliative care, hospice, holistic, and terminal care. The present work aimed to assess the knowledge of primary care physicians about EOL care in Menoufia governorate in Egypt. Also, assess their attitude and practice while dealing with a terminal illness. To achieve such an aim, a cross-sectional study was conducted in primary health care facilities in Barkat Al Sabe, Quesna, and Shebin El Koom districts at Menoufia Governorate – Egypt during the period from the first of May to the end of November 2019. Approval of the Ethical Committee of Menoufia faculty of medicine was obtained. Informed written consent was obtained from the participants after an explanation of the aim of the study. Out of 1172 primary care physicians working in Menoufia health directorate, 300 participants were selected by simple random sampling technique from the districts to satisfy the sample size during their monthly meeting. The sample was calculated, based on the total number of physicians. The selected participants were interviewed through a semi-structured questionnaire composed of four parts. First, socio-demographic data of the participants, such as age, sex, residence, years of practice, qualification, workplace, workdays per week, number of daily patients, continuous medical education training. |
