Abstract

1: Effect of spraying GA3, camphor oil and a mixture of them on yield components:
1.1- Total yield weight (kg/tree):
Generally, although all the treatments increased yield weight/tree in this respect, the steady state provided clear evidence that twice application at the 1st and 2nd time of 50 ppm GA3 gave the best treatment during the 1st study season, while once spray of 50 ppm GA3 at the 2st time gave the best treatments during the 2nd studied season, compared with untreated trees of “Manfalouty” pomegranate as under the conditions of this study.
1.2. Total fruit number/tree:
Finally, it was clear observed that twice spray at the 1st and the 2nd time of 50 ppm GA3 resulted in the best treatment in this respect during season 2016, while once spray at the 1st time of a mixture of 3 ml/L camphor oil + 50 ppm GA3 gave the best results of increasing total fruit No/tree in season 2017, all compared with untreated trees.
1.3. Percentage of cracking fruit number/tree:
Generally, in this respect, it was clear that under the conditions of this study once spray at the 1st time of a mixture of 3 ml/L camphor oil + 50 ppm GA3 resulted in the best lowest percentage of cracking fruit No/trees during the 1st studied season, while once spray of a mixture of 3 ml/L camphor oil + 25 ppm GA3 gave the lowest percentage of cracking fruit No/tree during the 2nd studied season, all compared with untreated trees.
These positive effects of the treatments on decreasing cracking fruit No % per tree could be due to the enhancement of both of GA3 or a mixture of GA3 + camphor oil of delaying the peel scencense of sprayed fruit, meanwhile increasing the elististy of peel versus the aril growth of the pomegranate fruits.
1.4. Commercial fruit number/tree:
Finally, there is a good inference from the obtained results that twice spray at the 1st and the 2nd time of a mixture of 2 ml/L camphor oil + 25 ppm GA3 gave the highest value of total commercial fruit No/tree during season 2016, while once spray of a mixture of 3 ml/L camphor oil + 25 ppm GA3 was considered the best treatments regarding to the improving total commercial fruit No/tree of Manfalouty pomegranate cv. during season 2017, all compared with untreated trees.
These positive effects of the treatments total increasing total commercial fruit No/tree could be attributed with the decrease of cracking fruit No/tree during the two studied seasons.
1.5. Commercial fruit weight/tree:
Generally, we should be aware that once spray at the 2nd time of a mixture of 2 ml/L camphor oil + 50 ppm GA3 induced the best treatment in increasing the total commercial fruit weight/tree (kg) during the 1st studied season, while once spray at the 1st time of 50 ppm GA3 gave the best treatment in this respect in the 2nd studied season, comparing with the other treatments and with untreated (control) trees under the conditions of this study.
2- Physical characteristics of fruit:
2.1. Fruit weight (g):
Generally, according the obtained results of this study, it was clear that once spray at the 1st time of a mixture of 2 ml/L camphor oil + 50 ppm GA3 induced the heaviest fruit weight (g) during the 1st studied season, while twice spray at the 1st and 2nd time of a mixture of 2 ml/L camphor oil + 25 ppm GA3 produced the highest value of fruit weight (g) during the 2nd studied season, all compared with the other treatments and with untreated trees.
2.2. Peel weight (g)/fruit:
Finally, it could be deduced that once spray at the 2nd time of a mixture of 2 ml/L camphor oil + 25 ppm GA3 exhibited the highest value of peel weight (g)/fruit during the 1st studied season, while twice spray of the same previous mixture induced the heaviest peel weight (g)/fruit during the 2nd studied season, all compared with the other treatments and with untreated trees.
2.3. Peel weight percentage/fruit:
Finally, it was noticed that under the conditions of this study, once spray at the 1st time of a mixture of 3 ml/L camphor oil + 50 ppm GA3 gave the lowest peel weight %/fruit during the 1st studied season, while once spray at the 2nd time of 3 ml/L camphor oil induced the lowest peel weight %/fruit during the 2nd to studied seasons, all compared with the other treatments and with the untreated trees.
2.4. Aril weight (g)/fruit:
Finally, under the conditions of this study, it could be deduced that once spray at the 1st time of a mixture of 2 ml/L camphor oil + 50 ppm GA3 gave the highest value of aril weight (g)/fruit during season 2060, while twice spray at the 1st and the 2nd time of 50 ppm GA3 resulted in the heaviest aril weight (g)/fruit during the 2nd studied seasons.
3. Fruit chemical characteristics:
3.1. Total soluble solids percentage (TSS%):
Final notice from this study, it could be demonstrated that once spray at the 2nd time of 3 ml/L camphor oil gave the highest value of TSS% in fruit juice during the 1st studied seasons, while twice spray at the 1st and 2nd time of 50 ppm GA3 resulted in the highest value of TSS% in fruit juice, during the 2nd studied season, all compared with the other treatments and with the untreated trees.
3.2. Titratable acidity percentage (TA%):
In this respect, it could be observed that in general, once spray at the 2nd time of a mixture of 2 ml/L camphor oil + 25 ppm GA3 caused the highest percentage of the titratable acidity (TQA%) in fruit juice during the 1st studied season, while once spray at the 2nd time of 3 ml/L camphor oil induced the highest value of the titratable acidity % in fruit juice during the 2nd season, all compared with the other treatments and with the untreated trees.
3.3. Ratio between the total soluble solids and the titratable acidity (TSS/TA Ratio):
Final observation of the results of this study, it was found that once spray at the 1st time of 3 ml/L camphor oil induced the highest value of TSS/TA ratio in fruit juice during the 1st season, while once spray at the 1st time of a mixture of 2 ml/L camphor oil + 25 ppm GA3 produced the highest value of TSS/TA ratio in fruit juice during the 2nd season, all compared with the other treatments and with the untreated trees.
3.4. Total sugars percentage:
Finally, the steady state of the results provided clear evidence that once spray at the 1st time at the 2nd time and twice sprays at the 1st and 2ndtimes of a mixture of 2 ml/L camphor oil + 25 ppm GA3 induced the highest value of total sugars % during the 1st studied season. On the other hand, twice sprays at the 1st and 2nd times of 25 ppm GA3 gave the highest value of total sugars % during the 2nd studied seasons, all compared with the other treatments and with untreated trees.
3.5. Reducing sugars percentage:
Finally, it was noticed that twice spray at the 1st and 2nd time of a mixture of 2 ml/L camphor oil + 25 ppm GA3 gave the highest value of reducing sugars % in fruit juice during the 1st studied season. On the other hand, it was found that twice spray at the 1st and 2nd time of a mixture of 3 ml/L camphor oil + 50 ppm GA3 produced the highest value of reducing sugars % compared with the other treatments and the untreated trees.
Recommendation:
According to the obtained results of this study, the conclusive recommendation is spraying a mixture of 2 ml/L camphor oil + 50 ppm GA3 as once spray at the 2nd time application to induce the highest commercial yield weight/tree. On the other hand, spraying a mixture of 2 ml/L camphor oil + 25 ppm GA3 as twice spray of the 1st and 2nd time to produce the best fruit quality under the conditions of this study.
