Abstract Iron is the most widely used of all minerals worldwide. 98% of the mined iron ore is used to make steel. Industrially iron is produced from iron ores, principally hematite, magnetite by a carbothermic reaction that is reduction with carbon, in a blast furnace at temperature about 800-1600 OC. In blast furnace, iron ore, carbon in the form of coke, and a flux such as limestone are fed into the top of the furnace, while blast of heated air is forced into the furnace at the bottom. Iron ore reduction is the conversion of iron oxide minerals to metallic iron. These investigation study the reduction of briquette El-Baharia iron ore, El-briquette Dekhilla fine pellets and briquette mill scale, fine waste by coke breeze in the temperature range 800 to 900 OC . The results show that the loss in weight of briquette increase as the temperature increase and also the losses of briquette increase as the weight of coke breeze in the briquette increase.
