Abstract OFP is a general term covering any pain which is felt in the mouth, jaws and the face. OFP is a common symptom to numerous variable problems. Peripheral CNV compression is one of the known causes of neuropathic OFP. Neuropathic OFP managements are generally divided into two main categories; medical management and surgical options (MVD, Percutaneous procedures and neurotomy). Peripheral decompression procedure is considered a new technique for OFP management with documented high success rate in treating frontal headache. The current study was applied with major primary aim to evaluate the effectiveness of PTSD in management of neuropathic pain conceived by compressed CNV different branches. The current prospective study was conducted on 14 Patients (6 male and 8 female). Ages were ranged from 38 to 65y with mean age 46.6 ± 8. All Patients underwent PTSD and nerve wrapping with collagen resorbable membrane and evaluated with VAS and GCP scales at preoperative then at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months postoperative. All patients were treated with PTSD procedure without any major complications and they exhibited a significant improvement on both pain scoring systems. The VAS scores at 1, 3, 6 and 12 month post-operative were decreased significantly (P ≤0.001). The GCP also displayed a significant improvement on Both CPI and DSP scores at 6 and 12 months post-operative P≤0.001. Our Conclusion was that PTSD represented an effective modality for treatment of neuropathic pain due to peripherally compressed CNV. RECOMMENDATION • This study represented a novel technique for OFP management so further more researches should be implemented to verify our results. • We also recommend applying PTSD with concomitant nerve wrapping using the different available nerve wrapping materials and compare them with the collagen membrane. |
