Abstract This research aims to achieve natural temperature regulation in the residential buildings and contribute heating and cooling demands and consequently reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Therefore, a biomimetic proposed facade inspired from chameleon skin is represented, simulated, and physically experimented on two models in this resaerch. The results prove that applying this façade on the practical model could lead to net zero energy. As a result, the proposed façade is applied on the economic residential project at Al Arish, North Sinai, Egypt as a case study. The results prove the efficiency of the proposed façade and energy savings. In addition to, the saved energy outcomes, construction cost, and payback period are estimated. |
