Abstract

Quality of work life influences the performance and commitment of nurses in various health care organizations and essential for developing and promoting nurses’ job satisfaction. This study aimed to assess the relationship between quality of work life and job satisfaction among staff nurses. A descriptive correlational design was used. The study was conducted on 135 staff nurses working in El Mansoura general hospitals at El Dakahlia governate. Data were collected by using two tools namely quality of work life scale and job satisfaction questionnaire sheet. The results of the current study revealed that, 85.1% of studied staff nurses perceived that their quality of work life was moderate while home/ work life dimension had the highest score and work design was the lowest one. Less than 34.6% of staff nurses were satisfied with their job, the hygiene factors had the highest score while the motivator factors was the lowest score. In Conclusion, there was a highly positive statistically significant relationship between quality of work life and job satisfaction among staff nurses. Therefore, it is recommended that conducting periodic assessment of nurses QWL associated with prompt corrective action and considering recognition for accomplishment and conducting training programs should be maintained and fair evaluation for nurses with establishing new system for promotion and incentives.
