Abstract This study aims to assess patients with pulmonary tuberculosis compliance with treatment and nutritional pattern. Research design: Is descriptive study design. Sample: Convenience sample was conducted in 100 patients. Setting: Elmahalla chest dispensary and Tanta chest hospital (Dots center) which are affiliated to the ministry of Health and Population, Elgharbia governorate. Tool: Data was collected using an interviewing questionnaire pre-designed including the following parts: Part I: patient’s socio-demographic characteristics, PartII Patient’s health status from patient health record PartIII: Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis knowledge regarding TB, Part IV: Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis compliance with treatment, Part V: Patient with pulmonary tuberculosis compliance with nutritional pattern. The results: Revealed that more than half of the patients had unsatisfactory knowledge regarding the disease, more than half of the patients always compliance with treatment pattern, more than two thirds of the patients sometimes compliance with nutritional pattern. Conclusion: More than half pulmonary tuberculosis patients had unsatisfactory knowledge about the tuberculosis disease, more than half of the patients had compliance with treatment pattern and more than two thirds of the patients were sometimes compliance with the nutritional pattern. Recommendation: Carried out continuous health education program for all pulmonary tuberculosis cases at chest dispensaries during the follow up visits to upgrade their knowledge in order to increase their compliance to treatment and their nutritional pattern. |
