Abstract

The present work concerns the adsorption of the divalent copper ions and the photocataytic degradation of Methylene blue, Crystal violet, and brilliant green actionic dyes. It also concerns with the preparation of modified flax fibers and investigate their application in environmental and analytical studies. It is included prepration of two different phases of the modified flax fibers: 1. 1st modified flax fibers were formed by the condensation of the oxidized flax fibers with O-amino thiophenol. The resulting OATP-MFF materials were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Infra-Red (FT-IR), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and were used as an adsorbent for the removal of Cu+2 by the adsorption process. The maximum Cu(II) adsorption was 92mg/g at pH 5. 2. 2nd modified flax fibers were formed by a simple reaction between the light oxidized flax fibers and AgNO3. The resulting Ag-DFF material was characterized by (SEM), (FT-IR), (EDX), Thermal analysis, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and the antibacterial activity. They were used as photocatalyst material for degradation of methylene blue (MB), crystal violet (CV), and brilliant green (BG) dyes by photocatalytic degradation process. The maximum degradation of the MB was 61.75mg/g and was 93.28mg/g for CV, and was 61.43mg/g for BG. The application of the prepared photocatalyst as a filter and in removal of MB, CV, and BG dyes from spiked natural samples.
