Abstract Ceftiofur sodium was injected intramuscularly to sixty clinically mastitic cows at a dose of 2.2 mg/kg B.W. in a single daily dose for 3 successive days. Milk samples were collected from clinically mastitic cows for isolation and identification of the causative microorganism then we follow up the clinical recovery rate and bacteriological recovery rate for the cows suffered from strept spp. only which resample twenty cows. Milk samples were collected from the twenty mastitic cows after clinically recovery at 7 and 15 days post the last injection to detect the bacteriological recovery. Moreover the twenty mastitic cows were followed up to investigate the effect of ceftiofur sodium injection on hematological and biochemical parameters in comparison to 20 healthy cows as a controlled group without any interference by medication. The present study concluded that the using of ceftiofur sodium in treatment of mastitis in dairy cattle have highly significant effect on hematological and biochemical parameters of mastitic cattle and play important role in treatment and control of mastitis. |
