Abstract

The solar energy is important energy to be used to solve any problems of the electricity energy and the problem of pollution. The Photovoltaic (PV) is the actual application of the solar system. By PV, it can produce electricity needed. The PV Water Pumping System (PVWPS) is the most suitable system to get water to be used at home for drinking, eating and housework and any other use of water.
This thesis deals with the design, analysis and simulation of a simple of efficient of PVWPS. It ignore the theoretical studies of PV and modeling techniques. The system uses unit of PV, DC-DC converter, the maximum power point tracker (MPPT) and water pump. The system uses equivalent electric circuits. The thesis includes discussion of several types of the (MPPT) algorithms and control methods. The MATLAB simulation is used to compare the result for different actual irradiations data. This system is cheaper in cost. To simulation by MATLAB, each subsystem is modeling in order to simulate the whole system of MATLAB/ SIMULINK.
The SIMULINK to model DC pump motor are done in the MATLAB. Simulations also make comparisons with all pump’s output in different situations using MPPT and without MPPT in terms of Speed and Torque produced. The results prove that the performance of PVWPS can increase the efficiency of system by MPPT if compared to system without MPPT. The results show also the effect of temperature on the performance of the system. The system produces less output when the degree of temperature goes high and vise verse. Besides that, the effect of irradiance is taken into consideration and proves that the system produces more output when the irradiance is high and decreases with low amount of irradiance. All results are introduced and compared in both cases using MPPT and without. Two types of DC-DC converters are used which are CUK and Boost converter. Both of them give a good response and increase the efficiency of the system. The output of the system using boost converter is higher than CUK converter and gives the same behavior under temperature and irradiance. PVWPS can be used and get maximum output needed. It provides a good solution to replace the conventional and traditional solution based on oil and fuel. It has several merits like cleanness, cost, availability and ease of use.
