Abstract Insulation system in oil filled transformers provides several functions including cooling, dielectic and even mechanical support. This system is a combination of cellulose insulation together with mineral oil. Therefore, it is very important to ensure its reliability. Under non-uniform fields the degradation of such binary insulation system can be accelerated by partial discharge (PD). Oil-based nanofluids have been proven to enhance both cooling capability and dielectric behavior of mineral oil. Yet, the PD characteristics of these fluids under divergent fields need further investigation. In this thesis PD activity under the applied AC voltage for both nanofluid and nanofluid impregnated pressboard (NIP) were introduced in comparison to base oil. |
