Abstract

SUMMARY
A
nal fistula represents one of the most common anorectal disorders in the surgical practice. The lack of any standard surgical procedure and heterogeneity of anorectal fistula warrants the surgeon to use his “judgment” more than in most colorectal diseases
Recently, a number of new sphincter-preserving techniques have been developed and proposed, all with the common goal of minimizing the injury to the anal sphincters and optimize the functional outcome such as Ligation of intersphincteric fistula tract, Plug, Fibrin glue, Fistula laser closure, Video-assisted anal fistula treatment and Adipose-derived stem cells.
The aim of the study was to compare injection of histoacryle and irrigation of silver nitrate in treatment of low non branching anal fistula. This study was held in Beni-Suief university hospital, at the general surgery department from October 2019 to June 2020 on 50 patients that divided into 2 groups randomly selected (SN group and Histoacryle group).
Statistical analysis revealed that both silver nitrate and histoacryle can be used in treatment of low non branching anal fistula effectively specially for patients refusing surgery, also for those complaining of diseases that prevent them from surgery and for patients with high risk for anesthesia, favoring SN injection as silver nitrate is much less expensive with a lower recurrence rates, while histoacryle is more expensive with higher recurrence rates.
