Abstract
Fourteen patients were chosen from the outpatient clinic of the Department of Prosthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University to participate in this research.
The completely edentulous patients were divided randomly by closed envelope method into two equal groups:
group I : Seven patients were rehabilitated with two conventional implants in the interforaminal region with Locator attachment in implant retained overdenture for the lower arch and complete denture for the upper arch.
group II : Seven patients were rehabilitated with two conventional implant with OLS attachment in implant retained overdenture for the lower arch and maxillary complete denture for the upper arch.
• Both groups were rehabilitated by complete denture for upper and lower archs by conventional procedure. Each patient received two conventional implant in the interforaminal region in the mandible for all patients.
• Installation of Locator attachements for group I and OLS attachments for group II , then pick stage for both group.
• CBCT radiograph were made to measure marginal bone height at the time of loading (baseline) , then after 6, and 12 months.
The findings of this analysis have revealed
• There is no significant difference between two groups within the first 6 months
• The lowest bone loss was recorded with overdentures with the OLS attachment with PEEK retentive matrix.While the highest bone loss was recorded with overdentures with Locator attachment with nylon retentive matrix within the second 6 months and within the first year.
