Abstract

The main objective of this dissertation is to develop a synthetic route to synthesize novel aromatic and heteroaromatic polymers and their core-shell nanocomposite catagories via aqueous chemical oxidative polycondensation based on various primary aromatic amines and diamine compounds. The formation of these composites in the nanoscale and applying these nanocomposites in photocatalytic activity for dyes and pollutants has an outstanding practical applied impact.
Developing new reaction conditions for the standard oxidative polycondensation reaction is the central part of the present work. The selected synthetic variables to be studied here include reaction temperature, concentration, the nature of the amine containing monomers, and the ratios of titanium dioxide (TiO2). There are many types of nanofillers used with aromatic polymer. In this thesis we study titanium dioxide (TiO2) as nanofiller with aromatic polymers.
Among all the nanoparticles, TiO2 was selected owing to its unique chemical and physical properties, in particular, low cost, dielectric constant, structural stability, non-toxicity, environmental-friendliness, large energy gap, easy to synthesis and sensors for H2 gas.
