Abstract Health promotion is the process of enabling people to their health .it focus on individual behavior towards a wide range of social and environmental interventions. Anemia in pregnancy is a serious complication that affect negatively on mother and her baby. AIM: to evaluatethe impact ofhealth promotion instructions for pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia using health promotion model on changing their perception and behavior regard the risk of anemia .Research design: A quasi_ experimental research design was used .Setting: the study was conducted in six mother child health care centers in Port Said city. Type of Sample;A purposive sample of 180 pregnant women divided into 90 study group and 90 control group. Data collection tools; three tools were used to collect data includes interviewing questionnaire, food frequency questionnaire, assessment recording Results; the results indicated that the majority of pregnant women had secondary level of education and about65.6% were housewives, about 94.7 had short interval<2 year from previous pregnancy with no significant differences between study and control group about sign and symptoms of iron deficiency anemia significantraising the hemoglobin level in study group .conclusion;Implementation of the management protocol using Health BelieveModel and aimed at improving pregnant women knowledge and practice related to Iron Deficiency Anemia . Thus it proved to be successful in raising the hemoglobin level, improving their dietary knowledge and practice and compliance to iron therapy compared to the control group. Recommendations; developing pre-marital counseling about anemia and its prevention. |
