Abstract

Acute myocardial infarction is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. MI is one of the main causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide.9, 10 According to the World Health Organization, more than 3 million people per year are estimated to have acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction and more than 4 million per year have non- ST-elevation myocardial infarction.
Plasma N-terminal Pro-Brain Natriuretic Peptide level has been shown to provide valuable prognostic information on short and long-term mortality in patients with acute Myocardial Infarction, in the general population.12
The aim of this study was to assess the short-term prognostic value of admission NT-pro BNP measurement in patients presented with acute Myocardial infarction (MI) to know its role as a predictor of mortality and morbidity in these patients in Suez Canal University Hospital.
