Abstract

Recently, many regions of the world have become in an urgent need of desalination systems. Humidification dehumidification desalination systems are considered one of the suitable choices for many areas, especially those with small capacities. This study deals with an experimental and theoretical study of a solar humidification dehumidification desalination system based on a closed water cycle and two different cycles of air flow (open and closed air cycles). The effect of different parameters such as; airflow rate, water flow rate, and cooling water flow rate on the performance indices has been studied. The performance indices include productivity, gain output ratio (GOR), recovery ratio (RR), humidifier efficiency (ηh), and dehumidifier efficiency (ηdh).
