Abstract chronic kidney disease is one of the most common diseases all over the world. Secondary yperparathyroidism is a common problem in the management of ESRD. Parathyroidectomy was reported with significant improvement of symptoms of 2ry HPT. Aim of the study ; To assess the quality of life in patients with ESRD who are under hemodialysis , and its relation to various clinical and biochemical variables and to assess the quality of life in hemodialysis atients after parathyroidectomy. Methods ; This study included 200 patients on maintenance hemodialysis for more than three months who were classified into two groups, each of 100 patients; group A (maintenance hemodialysis patients) and group B: patients on HD who were hospitalized for SHPT and underwent PTX. Results: Marked improvement in the laboratory parameters after parathyroidectomy.Parathyroidectomy was associated with improvement in all aspects of quality of life as compared with cases on regular hemodialysis. |
