Abstract This study was conducted to assess the degree of bacterial colonization on maxillary removable partial dentures fabricated from Bre_flex and the other fabricated from PEEK Twenty-six partially edentulous patients with maxillary kennedy class III modification I with opposing dentate mandibular arch were participated in the study. They were randomly selected according to predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. All the selected patients were delivered maxillary removable partial denture. The patients were randomly assigned to either one of the following groups: (group I Patients received maxillary removable partial denture fabricated from injectable Bre.flex second edition resin material reinforced by metal framework (group II): Patients received maxillary removable partial denture fabricated from Injectable polyrtheretherketone (PEEK) reinforced by framework. Swabs were taken from the internal surface of the maxillary removable partial denture and oral mucosa covering the crest of the ridge using sterile cotton swabs. three Swabs were collected for each patient, the first one was at time of first denture insertion then one week after denture insertion. After that, swabs were collected one month after insertion Swabs were emulsified in 1 ml nutrient broth then three serial dilutions (10-1, 10-2, 10-3) were made for each sample. Samples were plated in Brain Heart Infusion agar. Three plates were incubated for 24 hours at 370 C under aerobic conditions and another three plates were incubated for 48 hours at 37 C under anaerobic conditions. The plates were examined for growth of bacterial colonies which expressed in terms. |
