Abstract

Hypertension has become an important public health concern, due to high prevalence, strong associations with (CVDs), relation with morbidity and mortality, and huge economic burdens on the family and society (Zhou et al., 2018). Also, Hypertension is a highly prevalent condition, occurring in one-third of the world’s adults and in two-thirds of adults over 65 years of age (Liang et al., 2018).Hypertension becomes progressively more common with advancing age, with a prevalence of >60% in people aged >60 years. As populations age, adopt more sedentary lifestyles, and increase the body weight, the prevalence of hypertension worldwide will continue to rise. It is estimated that the number of people with hypertension will increase by 15–20% by 2025, reaching close to 1.5 billion (Williams et al., 2018).The aim of the present study was to assess quality of life among hypertensive elderly at Benha City. The study was conducted at Out-Patient Medical Clinic at Benha University Hospital and Benha Teaching Hospital. A descriptive design was used to conduct this study. The sample of the study was purposive sample and it was included 150 elderly people with hypertension. They were chosen according the following inclusion criteria: Diagnosed with hypertension, both sexes of elderly ≥ 60 years old and accepted to participate in the study.
