Abstract Asthma is a reversible disease, meaning that patients may exhibit normal lung function and may be asymptomatic between exacerbations. The aim:Aim of this study is to develop and implement suggested evidence based guideline for asthmatic patients at Suez Canal University Hospital. Research design: Aquasi-experimental design is utilized in this study. Setting: The study conducted at Chest Department, Suez-Canal University Hospital.Tools:The following 3 tools will be used through the study phases. (1) Interview sheet composed of two parts; part 1: socio demographic data and part 2: knowledge related to asthma, (2) Physical assessment (pulmonary function), and (3) Wisconsin Quality of Life sheet.Conclusion: There is statistically significant improvement in asthma control and quality of life observed before and after following guideline implementation.Results: The first question was supported as a good improvement in physical responses and the second question was supported as higher level quality of life of the studied sample. Recommendation: Apply evidence based guideline of care for patients with asthma and illustrated patient education handout and providing comprehensive education and training for asthmatic patients lays the foundation for quality care. |
