Abstract

ervical myelopathy sometimes represents a clinical and a radiological challenge because of the disproportionate between the patient’s presentation and the conventional MR findings as it does not provide a detailed cervical cord microstructural changes. DTI parameters provide a promising technique in the detection of early and subtle cord changes before its appearance in conventional MRI. This study included twenty-one patients who were referred to the radiology department at Mansoura university hospitals from neurology & neurosurgery departments between March 2017 and October 2019, and all cases underwent a protocol of imaging including conventional MR imaging and DTI. Final diagnosis was reached by histopathology in 4 patients with neoplastic lesions, and by follow up in 7 cases with inflammatory lesions (clinically and radiologically). The rest of patients were diagnosed clinically & radiologically. These data could give a more detailed picture about resectability of the tumor and how a surgery would affect the patient clinically. These data could also help at grading of cord tumors being low, intermediate or high grade regarding the pattern of affection of cord fibers.
