Abstract Objective :To evaluate the peri-implant tissue health around the immediate loaded mandibular overdenture retained by SFI-Bar® (stress free implant-bar). The peri-implant tissue health will be investigated in the aspects of: Peri-implant probing depth, Peri-implant bleeding index and Peri implant plaque index. Material and methods :Six fully edentulous patients were selected for this study with an age ranged from 50-70 years. Conventional complete dentures were made and duplicated into stereolithographic surgical guide using CBCT. According to implant planning, each patient received two implants placed in the inter-foraminal area of the mandible, to which the SFI-bar were connected to retain the lower denture. The peri implant tissue health was evaluated after two weeks of implant insertion (T0), three months (T1) and six months (T2) post insertion by the use of the following variables (1) modified plaque index; (2) modified bleeding index; (3) probing depth. Results :Comparing the scores of peri implant tissue health variables at different periods of the study, there was a significant decrease of plaque index, bleeding index, and probing depth at the first three months of follow up then all variables were non significantly increased. Conclusion :Implant assisted overdenture with SFI-Bar attachment on two interforaminal implants can be used successfully without negatively affecting peri-implant tissues health. |
