Abstract The effect of pregnancy and Preeclampsia on human circulatory tissue is well document in many literature due to the highly vascularized nature of the eye .Pregnancy directly causes a increase in retinal blood flow. This study compare the choroidal thickness in pregnant, preeclampstic and normal women using Optical coherence Tomography (OCT). The included participants In this study underwent full ophthalmological examination as Best corrected visual acuity measurement using snellen eye chart, Anterior segment examination using slit lamp, intraocular pressure using Goldmann applanation tonometer, posterior segment examination after pupillary dilatation using Slit lamp biomicroscopy with +90 diopter volk lens and Optical coherence Tomography (OCT) to assess choroidai thickness was done using Heidelberg Optical Coherence tomography. Then the selected participants were divided into three groups: group 1: Included 22 healthy pregnant participants. group 2: Included 22 preeclampstic Patients. group 3: Included 22 healthy normal participants. The participants were examined for measurement of choroidal thickness and showed that there significant increase of choroidal in pregnant women followed by preeclampstic women compared to healthy normal participants. |
