Abstract This study was conducted to compare between two different treatment modalities the first was using mucosa supported surgical guide, and the second was bone supported surgical guide, placing implants through the guides then constructing an over denture prosthesis Ten completely edentulous patients were selected from the out-patient clinic of Prosthodontics Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University to participate in this study. Ten Patients have been divided randomly into two equal groups: group A: the patients of this group have been rehabilitated with implant supported over denture as the implants were placed with mucosa supported surgical guide. group B: the patients of this group have been rehabilitated with implant supported over denture as the implants were placed with bone supported surgical guide. All conventional steps of complete denture were done for all the patients. Implants were installed in group(A) via mucosa supported surgical guide and in group(B) via bone supported surgical guide Loading was done after three months at the mandible and six month at the maxilla. Evaluation of the accuracy of the surgical guides by comparing the planned and the placed implants by superimposed the implants using the Ondemand 3D software. Data was collected, tabulated and statistically analyzed to compare between the two groups and the results showed that there is no statistical difference between both groups regarding angular, coronal and apical deviation. from the previous study the following can be concluded: a- Guided implant insertion simulates the planned positioned. b- Both mucosa and bony supported surgical guides reduce the risk of injuring the vital structure as the maxillary sinus and inferior alveolar nerve. |
