Introduction
Every society interest in the population of individuals with special needs became a social and economic necessity, and a criterion through which we can judge this society progress and its care to all its members. Civilization of any society has become accounted in its interest with human wealth, and its ability to guide its members’ behavior positively that may contribute to its progress.
Visual impairment has a negative impact on the individual social behavior, as the individual disintegrated from the surrounding external environment, resulting in many problems in the processes of development, social interaction, unable to observe others behavior, their daily activities and facial expressions, as well as his lack of experience and social opportunities available to them to integrate with others and contact with his surrounding outside world.
Therefore, visually impaired population is characterized by some emotional and behavioral characteristics, they may suffer from obvious deficiencies in social domain, severe shortage and significant deficiencies in their social skills, which entails many behavioral problems which prevents them from the possibilities of acceptable coexistence with others as a result of their frustrations in everyday life.
If family determines its children objectives that guide their social behavior within the general cultural and social context, then the right family that is characterized by a normal family climate, which is the key factor in their children acquisition of positive social behavior, and is able to perform its assigned functions, and it works to socialize the child from the beginning of his life, it undertakes to educate, and instill the principles of good treatment and help them to transform from an individual with a tendency and instincts to a good individual to share the life of the group, and behaves positive social behaviors, such as (altruism - cooperation).
This means that the prevailing atmosphere in family is the most important force that exert influence and attract adolescent, if family fails to perform some of its previous functions, this will have a bad impact, which appears in the form of various problems, and that these problems affect the family members; it hinders them Perform their functions, social roles, and leading to family disintegration.
Hence, Blind adolescents from disintegrated families are in gross need of training in positive behaviors that enable them to interact positively with others, in particular, sooner or later they will leave their schools and go to life, hence the importance of training blind teenagers on some positive behaviors that enable them to integrate into their society and to make the most use of their potentials; through creating an experienced educational training organization, help them to interact with those around them efficiently, and successfully.
If the goals of selective counseling are to change behavior into effective positive behavior, change feelings into positive emotions, change the negative mental image of oneself into a positive image, and correct misconceptions.
Therefore, the current study sought to identify the relationship of family disintegration and positive social behavior in blind adolescents, and to develop a selective counseling program to improve their positive social behavior.
[Study Problem:
The current study problem determined in answering the following key question:
What is the relationship of family disintegration and positive social behavior? How effective is a selective counseling program in improving positive social behavior in blind adolescents from disintegrated families?
Study Objectives:
To identify the family disintegration problems that may affect the positive social behavior in blind adolescents.
To verify the effectiveness of a selective counseling program in improving positive social behavior in blind adolescents.
To verify the continuity effectiveness of the selective counseling program in improving positive social behavior in the study sample.
Study importance:
Theoretical significance:
Identify the level of positive social behavior in some blind adolescents from disintegrated families, which directly affects the interaction and social relations with others and self-esteem to achieve psychological adjustment.
Investigating the positive social behavior in all its forms is one of the topics that through which support and achieve the individual psychological and social health, which is worthy of study.
practical importance:
To provide a scale for positive social behavior in blind adolescents, and family disintegration scale that may help workers and those interested in the field of visual impairment.
To Provide a selective counseling program that can be learned by professionals and practitioners of blind adolescents, and how to use it to help blind adolescents and special populations as well as blind individuals to improve positive social behavior.
Study limitations:
1- Sample:
The current study sample consisted of (100) adolescents with total vision loss from disintegrated families with low positive social behavior with an average age of (16.6) in the academic year 2017/2018, which was preceded by another exploratory sample to confirm the efficiency of the prepared and used study scales, it was followed by an experiential sample consisting of (14) students from Schools for the Blind. It was divided into two groups: an experimental group (7) male and a control group (7) male and female students, to verify the study hypotheses and achieve its objectives.
2-Study Tools:
Positive social behavior in blind adolescent scale (by the researcher).
Family disintegration Scale (by the researcher).
Selective counseling program to improve positive social behavior in blind adolescents (by the researcher).
3-Study Approach:
The descriptive approach.
The quasi-experimental approach.
Study Hypothesis:
There is a statistically negative correlation between the sample mean scores on family disintegration scale (Divorce - khola - Separation - Abandonment) and their mean scores on positive social behavior scale.
There are significant statistically differences between the mean rank scores of the experimental and control groups in post assessment of positive social behavior scale after conducting the program favoring the experimental group.
There are significant statistically differences between the mean rank scores of the experimental group in pre and post assessment of positive social behavior scale favoring the post assessment.
There are no significant statistically differences between the mean rank scores of the experimental group in post assessment and follow-up of positive social behavior scale after graduation (two months).
Study results:
There is a statistically negative correlation between the sample mean scores on family disintegration scale (Divorce - khola - Separation - Abandonment) and their mean scores on positive social behavior scale at (0.01).
There are significant statistically differences between the mean rank scores of the experimental and control groups in post assessment of positive social behavior scale and its dimensions after conducting the program favoring the experimental group at the level of significance (0.01).
There are significant statistically differences between the mean rank scores of the experimental group in pre and post assessment of positive social behavior scale and its dimensions favoring the post assessment at the level of significance (0.05).
There are no significant statistically differences between the mean rank scores of the experimental group in post assessment and follow-up of positive social behavior scale and the total score after graduation (two months).
