Abstract The present work was planned to study the hematological, biochemical, lipid peroxidation, antioxidant enzyme activities, histo-chemical and histo- pathological changes induced by carbon tetra chloride toxicity. Also, investigate the ameliorative efficacy of moringa oleifera leaves extract comparing to Silymarin in carbon tetra chloride treated rats. Seventy five white male albino rats (120 g average body weight were divided into 6 groups. group (1) 10 rats were kept as normal control. group (2) 10 rats were orally given silymarin (100 mg/kg b.wt.) daily for 40 days. group (3) 10 rats were orally given MO leaves extract (1.3 g/kg b.wt.) daily for 40 days. group (4) 15 rats were given CCl4 (3 ml/kg b.wt.) I/P. 30% in olive oil 2 times per week for 40 days. group (5) 15 rats were given CCl4 (3ml/kg b.wt.) I/P. 30% in olive oil 2 times per week and silymarin (100 mg/kg b.wt. ) orally daily for 40 days. group (6) 15 rats were given CCl4 (3 ml/kg b.wt.) I/P. 30% in olive oil 2 times per week and MO leaves extract (1.3 g/kg b.wt.) orally daily for 40 days. The whole blood and serum separation were collected from each group two times after 20 and 40 days from the beginning of the experiment for hematological, biochemical examination and tissue samples (liver and kidneys) for lipid peroxidation, antioxidant enzyme activities, immuno-histochemical and histopathological examination. Regarding to the clinical signs, all rats appeared normal except (gp.4) showed anorexia and depression. Mortalities were recorded in gp. (4) one at the 9th day and another one at the 24th day of the experiment with percent 13.33%. Rat in gp. (5) was died at the 12th day by percent 6.66% another one in gp. (6) was died at the 27th day by percent 6.66%. |
