Abstract Learning disabilities’ children are at great risk for negative self appreciation and low self concept that may in its role lead to unaccepted or dangerous behaviours. Pediateric Nurses role is very important to support and promote psychological wellbeing of the child with learning disabilities at school age. Aim: determine the relationship between learning disabili-ties and self concept among primary school children. Subjects and Method: a descriptive correlational research design was used. Setting: The study was conducted in the governmen-tal primary schools at Port-Said city. Subject: A purposive sample composed of 80 child represented all children identified as having learning disabilities. Tools: Data were collected using the interview sheet and translated form of Peirs Harries Self Concept Scale. Result: the results of the study indicated that there were no significant statistical relationship be-tween learning disabilities and self concept. Also results showed that nearly two thirds of the studied children had positive self concept. Conclusion: there weren’t any significant relashionship between learning disabilities and self concept among studied children. Rec-ommendations: there are obvious need for conducted more nursing research concerning training programs to promot and improve self concept of children with learning disabilities and study other psychological aspects at learning disabilities profile of children. |
