Abstract Purpose of this study is to identify the prevalence of brain abnormalities in the children with global developmental delay referred to our institution. Patients & methods: descriptive study of MRI brain of children suffering from developmental delay referred to MRI unites at the Ain-shams university hospital in the period from January 2015 to December 2016 with history of global developmental delay. Results: The study included 884 children presented with GDD . Brain MRI findings were reported as normal in 328 cases (37.1%) and abnormal findings were seen in 556 cases (62.9 %). the most common abnormalities were Neurometabolic disease 127 cases (14.3%) and isolated Brain atrophy 122 cases (13.8%). Conclusion: MRI brain is an effective tool in identifying causes of developmental delay children demonstrating the association of brain abnormalities |
