Abstract The problem of the research and its purpose: The problem of the study results from the practicality of the various industrial technical disciplines, since students of these industrial secondary schools by virtue of their specialties may be exposed to some injuries resulting from a lack of awareness of industrial safety and occupational safety or lack of safety training. The purpose of this study was to identify the knowledge and experience of industrial secondary school students regarding the potential work environment hazards in their future work and to design a program based on the competencies in developing awareness and achieving the industrial safety and occupational safety requirements of secondary industrial students. Research Procedures: The design of the study was twofold, a questionnaire and focused group interviews. The preliminary data collection of the study was based on a questionnaire prepared specifically for this purpose. The questionnaire was distributed to industrial secondary school students, with a total of (141) questionnaires. The test of knowledge collection and the performance of the skill note card has been applied. The secondary and industrial schools are located in the govemorates of Cairo and Gharbia. Results: The students had very limited knowledge of safety hazards and their laws and legislations. Data were collected from the study community and analyzed. The main results of the study were as follows: A list of occupational safety and safety competencies for students in industrial secondary schools (8) were identified as main competencies under which there are (73) specialized competencies. Recommendations: The research recommended developing the methods of industrial safety and occupational safety in light of a list of competencies reached by the research. It also recommended that conducting of training courses for students on industrial safety and occupational safety. It should be applied systematically starting from the first year and taking into consideration training programs in the light of technological development. |
