Abstract Traumatic head injury (THI) is a life-threatening emergency, which is a common cause of morbidity and mortality in all age groups. Aim: This study aimed to assess nurses’ performance regarding the care of patient with traumatic head injury during the golden hour .Design:Adescriptive research designwas conducted. Setting: The emergency units at Al-Azhar University Hospital and Damietta General Hospital.Sample: A convenient sample of 50 nurses was included in the study. Toolsof data collection: Tool (1) A Structured questionnaire sheet consisted of two parts:a) nurses’ personal characteristics, b) questions such as (definition, causes and clinical manifestation of traumatic head injury etc.). Tool (2)observational checklistcomposed of three parts.Results:Most studied nurses had fair level of knowledge and practice regarding the care of patient with THI .Recommendations :Further Study about the impact of a designed nursing intervention protocol about care of patients with(THI) during the golden hour. |
