Abstract The fact that several heterocyclic compounds containing benzoxazole moiety exhibitedpotent anti-breast cancer activity through different mechanisms of action promoted the designand synthesis of new benzoxazole derivatives as potential cytotoxic agents against MCF-7and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell lines. The designed compounds contained the corenucleus 2-phenyl benzoxazole moiety substituted at the 4-position of the phenyl ring with different substituents including flexible side chains, 5-membered heterocycles or fusedheterocyclic systems.Studies on the synthesis of the designed compounds, their spectral analysis as well astheir evaluation for cytotoxicity, are presented as the main text of this thesis. |
