Abstract Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most neurodegenerative disease, characterized by gradual decline of memory, cognitive functions, and personality changes. The present work was aimed to evaluate the role of bioactive component boswellic acid from the medicinal plant frankincense in management of Alzheimer’s disease by enhancing electron transport chain complexes in experimental rat model.Materials AND METHODS: rats were divided into five groups as control, boswellic acid, AD, boswellic acid –pre-treated and boswellic acid treated groups. At the end of experiment different neurochemicals, oxidative, antioxidant, tau protein as Alzheimer’s biomarker and electron transport chain parameters were assessed |
