Abstract
This study has adopted an interdisciplinary contrastive approach to investigate English and Arabic prosody in terms of theory and practice. It has proposed a basic generative framework of analysis and applied it to more than fifty verse samples. In addition to the analytical contrastive achievements, it has thus contributed to the theory of prosody.
