Abstract

Objectives of the study:
1- Clarifying the concept of the dream of the ancient Egyptian.
2- Shed light on the practice of some priests the role of psychiatrist.
3- Draw a complete picture of the dream ghost.
4- Shed light on the medical legacy in ancient Egypt, which is close to modern psychiatry.
Research Methodology:
To achieve these objectives, the researcher used the descriptive approach, where the main elements on which the implementation of this weather was mentioned separately. The analytical approach was necessary to clarify the concept and motives of the dream in the light of the stories mentioned.
Results of the study:
The sanctity of the place was necessary for this type of treatment because it was not just a dream, although the acquisition of any dream was not conditional on a specific place. The dreamer could see God anywhere, but when it came to recovering from a disease, the patient had to go where the merciful God was, where God would not have allowed him to suffer again, especially in his house (the house of God). Not all of the places mentioned above have been prepared for this type of treatment, especially those that existed before the Greco-Roman period and were later processed.
The ancient Egyptian did not spare any effort to seek the help of God at every moment of his life, especially in his illness. He never felt frustrated when he encountered a mysterious power that was in his mind that the story of God’s struggle against Horus is a way of life. God’s help to the sick was done without discrimination. God sometimes cured those who lived in the temple of another god.
The idea of staying in the temple until recovery was clearly evident in the case of incubation, while the usual treatment within the treatment centers was in three stages: examination, diagnosis and medication, and then the patient returned home to complete the treatment.
Since the weather of dreams was practiced on certain occasions, there were a large number of patients waiting for the right time, they went to the temple in groups but the treatment was done individually. It was available to members of the patient’s family participating in one of the stages of treatment; at least one of them, which is often the stage of supplication and supplication. The same dream was sometimes a treatment without the need to take medicine, where the patient was cured in the morning directly and at other times the dream was a guide or a way to get a prescription.
The researcher found that there is a difference between the terms Incubation and Therapeutic Dream. The dream is a stage of incubation, while the nursery is ”a medical ritual that leads to the elimination of diseases in a psychological environment, which is provided by the priests who prepare the patient psychologically to accept This kind of treatment within the temples where the gods play the role of the Shafi with the help of the priests. ”
