Abstract The purpose of this research is to study the dehydration process of natural gas by absorption using tri-ethylene glycol and development modelling and simulation for dehydration process by Aspen Hysys v 8.8 using cupic plus association equation of state as it is in the Gasco Company. Dehydration of natural gas is needed to remove the water that is associated with natural gas in vapor form. Natural gas industry has recognized that dehydration is necessary to insure smooth operation of gas transmission lines; dehydration prevents the formation of gas hydrates and reduces corrosion. Unless gases are dehydrated, liquid water may condense in pipeline and accumulate at low point along the line and reducing its flow capacity. Several methods have been developed to dehydrate gases in an industrial scale. This study focuses on the absorption method which is used to dehydrate the natural gas in Gasco Company and also focus on the difference results between glycol package and cubic plus association plus equation and compare results with industrial operating data. Analysis tool in Aspen Hysys replaces the work of laboratory experiments. They have an active role for it determine the temperature of the hydrate formation to avoid access to this class of temperature. The important role for dehydration unit to reduce the water content of natural gas and access to water dew point to get the pipeline specification allowed in the industry that natural gas becomes efficient for commercial and industrial purposes. |
