Abstract Background: Egyptian health care organizations may be confronting significant challenges as they make efforts to improve levels of head nurses’ work engagement. In general, the perceived organizational support has a positive reflection on head nurses and the organization which the head nurses work in it. However, successful health care organizations know that head nurses’ engagement is crucial. Aim: The present study aimed to assess the relationship between organizational support and work engagement as perceived by head nurses. Setting: This study was conducted at Main Mansoura University Hospital. Research Design: A descriptive design was utilized. Subject: All available head nurses who agreed to participate in the study at time of data collection. Tools: Two tools were used Organizational support questionnaire and Work engagement scale. Results: The highest percentage of head nurses included in the study had moderate level of perceived organizational support and the majority had high level of work engagement. Conclusion: There is a highly significant correlation between head nurses perception of organizational support and work engagement Recommendations: It’s recommended that nursing management at Mansoura University Hospital need to develop strategies to create an atmosphere which in under it head nurses feel more supported and develop strategies to conserve head nurses, high level of work engagement. |
