Abstract Technological Progress in Wireless communication prepared the way to the evolution of low-power, tiny, low-cost sensor nodes in WSNs. The network layer transact with routing issue in sensor networks, where radio reception and transmission consumes considerable amount of energy. Consumed power is considered the most challenging topic in WSNs, due to the highly demands of many applications, and the various constraints that faces like memory, and WSN computational power. The main objective of this thesis is to introduce an energy consumption fault tolerance aware clustering algorithm (EFAC) and energy consumption fault tolerance aware routing algorithm (EFAR). These algorithms can recover the sudden failure of cluster head (CH), and take care of sensor nodes without a CH among their communication range and transmit data to the base station through multiple paths with taking energy consumption and fault tolerance into consideration. By using MATLAB simulations, the effectiveness of EFAC and EFAR algorithms are proved on different network scenarios in terms of lifetime, total consumed energy, and packet delivery ratio. The results of proposed algorithms are compared with LEACH protocol. And the results proofed the strength of these algorithms in stipulation of diverse performance metrics. |
