Abstract

A satisfying sex is very important for physical and psychological wellbeing. We can define sexual satisfaction as a multidimensional experience that can be achieved by a combination of various factors including individual factors, biological factors, cultural factors and factors related to sexual activity and marital relationships. The current study aimed to assess sexual satisfaction in married women to detect factors that affect female sexual satisfaction, and to correlate it with general wellbeing. This study included 302 married women. All studied individuals were subjected to a questionnaire-based interview. The questionnaire consisted of 26 questions that covered the majority of factors that can predict sexual satisfaction, and other questions that correlate the relation between sexual satisfaction and general wellbeing. The results of this study showed that:The most common age group was 20-29 years (47.4%). The most common educational level was a university degree (75.2%). Most participants had a job (83.8%) and most of them were living in rural areas (51.7%)Sexual satisfaction decreased in relation to age. Also, lubrication attainment and orgasm showed statistically significant decline with age.Dissatisfaction was observed in 90.0 % of genitally cut women and in 10.0 % uncut women. The commonest coital frequency was 2-3 times per week in participants reporting satisfaction >50% and dissatisfied participants.
