Abstract
This study was conducted to assess the role of Genexpert in detection and comparison with conventional methods of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) complex DNA and rifampicin (RIF) resistance mutations directly caused by sputum. It was performed during the period July 2017 – July 2018, 100 patients were received. The specimens for TB bacilli have been tested using (Ziehl- Neelsen stain – culture on Lowenstein-Jensen medium – Xpert MTB/RIF Assay). The GeneXpert Test is the best performer for rapidly diagnosing MTB, sensitivity and accuracy for detecting the bacteria from MTB and rifampicin resistance which will lead to better patient management and reducing infection diffusion too.
