Abstract Elasticity imaging is a relatively new technique for studying the stiffness of tissue .The main idea is that whether the tissue is hard or soft Just like manual palpation, but Compared with manual palpation, UE has the advantage of evaluating deeper lying lesions, and as a result it will give diagnostic information about the presence or status of disease. For example, Cancerous tumours will often be harder than the surrounding tissue The principle of elastography is that tissue compression produces strain (displacement) within the tissue and that the strain is smaller in harder tissue than in softer tissue. Therefore, by measuring the tissue strain induced by compression, we can estimate tissue hardness, which may be useful in diagnosing breast cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of Sonoelastography in evaluation of solid breast lesions. In this study we included 30 patients with different breast lesions. All patients had underwent into conventional B-mode ultrasound examination and were evaluated according to the BIRADS categories, then real time free hand ultrasound elastography was performed in the same session and images were evaluated using both the Tsukuba elasticity score and the strain ratio method. |
