Abstract Chronic kidney disease is one of the most common causes of CVD in adults. As recently validated, strain and strain rate imaging (comprehensive approach) providing extensive information about regional myocardial function may be applicable to LA. This study aimed to investigate left atrial function in patients on regular dialysis by speckle tracking echocardiography. This study included 40 patients with CKD on regular dialysis and 20 healthy subjects (age and sex matched) as control group. group A: 40 patients with CKD on regular dialysis {19 males (47.5%) and 21 females (52.5%)} with mean age 43.4±9.8 years. group B: 20 healthy subjects {9 males (45%) and 11 females (55%)} with mean age 45.1±12.3 years. All patients and controls were subjected to the following: (1) Detailed history taking (2) Thorough clinical examination (3) Investigations A- Laboratory investigations: Serum Na, K, Mg Lipid profile Serum |
