Abstract

The studied archaeological sites are located at the northeastern corner of
Kharga Oasis, Western Desert, Egypt. Kharga Oasis which includes several
important aracheological sites of different ages, the most of which are those
of Roman - Ptolemaic and Coptic periods. The study area could be
differentiated into four archeo-physiographic sectors: the northern sector
includes Qasr Al-Labekha and Al- Labekha Temple, the eastern sector
includes El- Dier site, the middle sector includes Al-Bagawat Cemeteries and
Hibis Temple and the southern sector includes Qasr Al-Ghaweita and Qasr
Al-Zayan. The monumental materials and bedrock underneath the
archaeological sites are suffering from geo-environmental damages and
weathering processes, particularly salt weathering at different rates and
intensities.
